INDEPENDENT SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES LATEST PHASE OF LONG-TERM GROWTH PLAN
President and CEO Hank Ratner Continues To Build Client-Centric, Diversified Company That Now Represents More Than 300 MLB, NBA and NFL Athletes
NEW YORK, March 10, 2017 – Independent Sports & Entertainment (ISE) – an integrated sports, media, entertainment and management company – continues to build a future-looking, client-centric business positioned for long-term growth. ISE President and Chief Executive Officer Hank Ratner announced today that two-term Mayor of Sacramento and NBA All-Star, Kevin Johnson will begin working with ISE on corporate vision and strategy, serving as a Vice Chairman for the company. Additionally, as part of a reorganization at the company, Chief Marketing Officer Chris Grancio will assume the role of interim president of ISE Basketball, replacing Dan Fegan, who was terminated. ISE remains firmly committed to basketball, and under Grancio’s guidance, ISE Basketball will continue delivering best in class service for clients.
“I have never been more enthusiastic about the future of ISE as we continue to strategically grow the business to establish a unique, diversified company,” said ISE Chairman Ron Burkle.
Continued Ratner: “These are major steps that will position ISE for long-term success and growth. With the addition of Kevin’s expertise and vast connections in business, sports and politics supporting our strong leadership team, we will continue to build upon the first-class sports agency foundation of the business.”
In addition to working on corporate matters, Johnson will be available to current and prospective ISE clients for contract negotiation and career development counsel. Johnson, an advisor to several prominent companies, will report directly to Ratner. While Mayor of Sacramento, Johnson played a key role in solidifying a deal for the new ownership group of the Sacramento Kings, keeping the team in the city and working closely with the NBA to build the recently opened Golden 1 Center. He also led the NBPA search committee that hired current executive director Michele Roberts.
Since launching in June 2016, under Ratner’s leadership ISE has built on its leading sports agency business, which represents more than 300 MLB, NBA and NFL athletes, to establish a strong foundation for the future. Along with ISE Football co-presidents Doug Hendrickson and Roosevelt Barnes, ISE Baseball CEO Mark Pieper and President Fernando Cuza, the company further strengthened its leadership team. In October 2016, ISE hired Grancio, former general manager of global basketball at adidas, to lead a centralized and expanded marketing and business development division. While at adidas, Grancio oversaw strategic vision and all elements of the basketball business, including athlete and NBA partnerships, product creation and merchandising. ISE also recently added Richard Rosenstein, a seasoned financial executive with more than 25 years of experience in the communications, media and entertainment industries, as Chief Financial Officer, reinforcing the company’s vision for growth.
